In 2021 UMD president Darryll J. Pines charged a Community Policing Task Force to provide recommendations to enhance public and community policing. In March 2022, he outlined 21 recommendations for implementation outlined in the Task Force's report and announced the establishment of the Campus Safety Advisory Council.
The Division strongly supports TerrapinSTRONG, which represents a shared vision and values for the entire campus community. The TerrapinSTRONG vision is the shared understanding from which we work to improve the sense of community, connection and inclusion on our campus.

In other news, $40 million was allocated towards the conversion of UM Shuttles from diesel to electric, UMD will be hosting the ITGA conference in June 2024, and the micronet program is set to expand, improving the accuracy of weather sensing around campus and response by FM.
